High Density Pure Nickel
CT5174-2
CT5174-2 is a pure nickel material applied using the HVOF process. This material exhibits excellent corrosion resistance to many acids. CT5174-3 is a dense, fairly hard material that is smooth as sprayed and may be machined using single point tools.
Typical Properties
Nominal Composition Cobalt:
99.8% Nickel
Bond Strength:
8,000-10,000 psi
Coating Porosity:
Less than 1%
Coating Hardness:
Rb 50-70
As-sprayed Surface Roughness
100-140 Ra
For the Following Applications:
CT5174-2 has been used as a build up material on nickel and nickel alloy parts.
Finishing
CT5174-2 may be finished by machining with a single point tool. C2 or C7 carbide tools should be used, negative rake, 1/32” radius. Light cuts with high work speeds give the best finishes.
Near mirror finishes can be achieved by superfinishing if desired.
